Location

Our department has several locations. Students rotate between three locations which include our main outpatient office (Clinton Woods), our pediatric office (Lattimore), and the hospital (Strong Memorial Hospital). These offices are all within 5-10 minutes from each other.

Staff

Our site has 24 staff audiologists. All supervisors that work with students have their CCC-A certifications. 

Externship Timeline

Our anticipated start date is 05/24/2027 . This date may change pending pre-hire requirements and the HR process through the hospital. The anticipated ending date is 05/12/2028. This position is designated as Full Time. If a stipend is approved, it is reported to be about $37000 annually.

Leadership in Neural Developmental Disabilities (LEND) Fellowship:  

Our students will participate in the LEND fellowship program during their externship. The LEND program aims to improve health outcomes for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. By participating in LEND, trainees learn about the importance of person-and family-centered care and honoring values and culture.

The University of Rochester LEND program provides training to graduate students from audiology, nursing, psychology, public health, school psychology, social work, special education, speech language and hearing science. Self-advocates, family members, and community members also participate in one year of course work, community practicum assignments, advocacy and research. 

In our program, you will

• Acquire valuable experience working as part of a research team
• Attend national conferences as a presenter or participant
• Train in clinical and classroom settings

Our LEND program is 1 of 60 nationally and the only program serving Upstate New York. LEND is a collaborative training program of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).
