The Department of Surgery at UF Health Jacksonville Physicians, Inc located in Northeastern Florida is excited to offer one paid fourth-year externship position for the 2027-2028 year.Â
This position will run from May 31st, 2027, through May 12th, 2028 (TBD). Externs will receive approximately 11 months of hands-on patient care experience under the supervision of 3-4 CCC-A accredited licensed audiology preceptors.Â
This is a fast-paced university medical center experience, and externs will rotate between three locations, located 20 minutes apart. Externs will be exposed to diverse audiologic evaluations and case management of both adult and pediatric patients. The experience will include exposure to advanced diagnostics, selection of hearing assistance technology including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone conduction devices, as well as experience in electrophysiology, and vestibular testing and treatment.
The externship experience will begin with fine tuning diagnostic skills and will integrate advanced clinical practices as the year progresses. We currently have one neurotologist who will help supplement learning and growth while completing the externship. There is an opportunity for surgical and procedural observation during placement time.
