- ENT Associates of Fresno and The Hearing Institute of Fresno are seeking a motivated fourth-year AuD extern for a full-time clinical externship beginning in Summer 2027.This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a collaborative, physician-owned ENT and audiology environment that provides comprehensive hearing and balance services throughout California’s Central Valley. The extern will receive extensive hands-on training in diagnostic audiology, vestibular assessment, hearing aid services, and medical audiology while working alongside experienced audiologists, hearing healthcare professionals, and otolaryngologists.About Our Practice

Clinical Experience
The extern will participate in and gain experience with:
Diagnostic Audiology
· Comprehensive adult and pediatric audiologic evaluations
· Tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing
· Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs)
· Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing
Vestibular Evaluation
· Videonystagmography (VNG)
· Video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT)
· VEMP
· Vestibular assessment and interpretation
· Collaborative management of dizziness and balance disorders
Hearing Healthcare
· Hearing aid evaluations
· Hearing aid selection and counseling
· Hearing aid fitting and verification
· Real-ear measurements
· Follow-up care and troubleshooting
· Assistive listening devices
Medical Audiology Integration
· Close collaboration with otolaryngologists
· Exposure to otologic and neurotologic conditions
· Cochlear implant candidacy evaluations and follow-up opportunities
· Medical decision-making and interdisciplinary patient care
Mentorship & Professional Development
The primary preceptor will be Dr. Daniel Duran, AuD, Director of Audiology at The Hearing Institute of Fresno. Additional mentorship will be provided by Dr. Nick Ottley, AuD, along with close collaboration with our otolaryngologists and advanced practice providers.
Our goal is to help the extern develop the clinical, counseling, and professional skills necessary for a successful transition into independent practice. The extern will progressively assume greater independence throughout the year and will actively participate in patient counseling, treatment planning, hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, and long-term patient management.
In addition to clinical training, the extern will gain valuable exposure to the operational and business aspects of private-practice audiology, including patient experience, practice growth, and hearing healthcare delivery within an integrated medical setting.
